Adventures in Growing Hops in WNC

How do hops grow?
Are Western North Carolina hops different from those grown elsewhere?
Are hops used for things other than beer?

What kind of investment is needed in order to start growing hops?

These and other questions will be the subject of the FREE "Adventures in Growing Hops in WNC" program at the Madison County Library in Marshall.  Learn what it takes to grow hops in the mountains of North Carolina from John Wright and Rita Pelczar, owners of Blue Ridge Hops, an organic hop farm in Marshall.  Rita and John will share what they've learned since starting their hop yard in 2008, including:

Best varieties for the region
How to build an adjustable trellis
Uses for hops beyond brewing beer
What makes WNC hops special

Whether you've thought about growing hops or are just curious about this fascinating subject, this free presentation is sure to be informative and entertaining.  John and Rita will be happy to answer your questions at the end of the program.
